"The alienating effect of cultural displacement is a recurreing theme in Felix Berroa's works on paper. His puppets-like characters, their heads askew, inhabita fantasy world of anonymous urban spaces haunted by technology. The airplane is both a vehicle of escapeand an imprisioning capsule that traps them in suspensed animation. In a pair of large drawings entitle "Personality", Mr. Berroa's characters find find release by assuming the atributes of animals like eagle, wolf and horse. Their ceremonies express aspects that are masked by society's conventions."
