CULTURAL CHOCK

"As to the first ten years period in USA, my works are mostly devote to the "cultural chock", racial contrast, aggressiveness on the streets, "psichologic discrimination and aggressiveness" towards the "new inmigrants"; also devote to the sex, publically reflected in multiple direction: television, movies, posters, newspapers, magazines, fashions, etc.
Sensuality reflected in fashion gratly called my attention. (I am working on sensuality since my "Puerto Rico Period" 1979-1980). The feminine economy independency too. It reaches huge levels in comparison to the feminine dependence in underdeveloped countries. There from the idea for "wings", so with their weak and fragile bodies may fly freely, running the spaces they was not alowed to do through History.

CHOQUE CULTURAL
"Sobre los primeros diez años del periodo USA, mis trabajos estan dedicados, mayormente al "Choque Cultural": contraste racial, agresividad en las calles, "discriminacion y agresividad psicologica" con los inmigrantes nuevos; al sexo, publicamente reflejado en todas direcciones: television, cine, posters, periodicos, revistas, moda, etc.
Me llamo mucho la atencion de la sensualidad reflejada en la moda, en la que trabajo desde mi periodo puertorriqueño 1979-1980.
Tambien, la independencia economica femenina. Esta toma niveles mayusculos en comparacion con la dependencia femenina en los paises subdesarrollados. De ahi surge la idea de las "alas", para que con su cuerpo fragil y delicado puedan volar libremente y recorrer los espacios que no se le permitio a traves de la Historia.
En algunos casos le puse al cuerpo femenino partes de un caballo y otro animal (cabeza, patas, rabo, etc.), para insinuar la fuerza con la que la mujer toma la idea de "independencia", "libertad economica", en el matrimonio y la vida cotidiana. Felix Berroa, 1990
